- The small group guide, print ready. The ten session guide from the back of the book as a stand alone PDF and Word file, ready to print for your whole group.
- The Lord’s Prayer wall card. The prayer laid out the way the book unpacks it, to print and keep where you pray.
- The faith confessions card. The daily declarations on one printable page for the fridge or the front of your Bible.
- The sermon series kit. For pastors: outlines for a ten week series that walks a whole church through the book.
Orphans earn their keep. Sons and daughters take their place.
Too many Christians live like they are on probation. Forgiven, yes, but still waiting outside the door. Jesus taught us to begin our prayers with two words that end that waiting: Our Father. This book is about what those two words give you, and what they ask of you.
What this book will settle for you
By the last page you will know, and be able to say out loud:
- How you got into the family, and why nobody can put you out of it.
- What the Kingdom of God actually is, who runs it, and how it works on the ground.
- Your position in the family: not a servant, not a guest, a child with a seat at the table.
- Your rights as a family member, and how to pray like someone who has them.
- Your obligations, because belonging always comes with responsibility.
- Why every believer is a king and a priest, and what that changes on Monday.
- How money works inside the family of God, without hype and without fear.
- What it means that God is with you, in you, and for you.
- How to build a faith that is yours, with reflection questions, a closing prayer and a set of faith confessions for every chapter.
What people are saying
“My friend Pastor Ken Wootton has spent his life helping people discover who they are, where they belong, and the part God has called them to play in His Kingdom. That’s one of the reasons Ken and I share such a deep passion for the truth of Kings & Priests: that every believer has a calling, a place, and a purpose in advancing the Kingdom of God. Adopted: Taking Your Place in the Family of God captures that beautifully. Ken reminds us that we aren’t outsiders trying to earn our way in; we are sons and daughters who have been given a seat at the Father’s table and entrusted with His Kingdom work. I believe this book will help people take their place and live with a greater confidence in who God created them to be.”
“There is no version of the man I am today without Ken and Moira Wootton. When I was fifteen, they saw me, not first as a future leader, school founder or church planter, but as a son of the Most High God. They believed that truth about me until I could finally see it for myself. I watched them live this message. I watched Ken love Moira when no one was watching. I watched a highly skilled man walk away from a wealthy future and stand on scaffolding at five in the morning painting a church roof because the call of God mattered more than comfort or status. That was a dangerous man: one whose identity was not for sale. Ken and Moira helped me understand that I was not an employee trying to earn the Father’s approval, a tenant afraid the lease might not be renewed, or an orphan fending for myself in a house that had a Father. I was a son. And I took my place. From that place came the courage to establish The International School of Switzerland and begin a church in the heart of Switzerland. Adopted is not simply a message Ken has written. It is a life Ken and Moira have lived. They invested in a fifteen-year-old boy before there was any visible return. I know this message works because my life is part of the harvest.”
“When I first read what Ken has written here, it did not read like theology to me. It read like my own biography, dressed in Scripture. He will walk you through the family’s constitution, the Lord’s Prayer, phrase by phrase, and show you your position, your rights, your obligations and your finances as an adopted child of God. Take it seriously.”
“Adopted is a short, engaging and practical read that beautifully explores what it means to know God as Father and find our place in His family. Ken writes with warmth and clarity, with thoughtful devotional questions that help turn truth into everyday application.”

Let me tell you why I wrote it
I have been pastoring for more than thirty years. In that time I have watched good people, saved people, people who could quote the verses, live like orphans. They worked for a love they already had. They begged for things that were already theirs. They tiptoed around a Father who had thrown the doors open.
So I went back to the prayer Jesus gave us and read it slowly, the way you would read a family document. Our Father. Your Kingdom. Give us. Forgive us. Deliver us. Yours is the Kingdom. It is all there: who you are, what you have, what you owe, and whose the whole thing is.
This is not a theology textbook. It is a book you can read in a weekend and pray from for the rest of your life. Each chapter ends with questions to sit with, a prayer to pray, and the kind of plain declarations I say over my own life every morning.
If you have ever felt like the help instead of the heir, this book is for you.
