Reflections

The Book Is Here

After years of preaching it, months of writing it and a small mountain of edits, Adopted: Taking Your Place in the Family of God is out. Not pre ordered. Not coming soon. Out, in print and on Kindle, ready to be read.

If you have been around Highlands for any length of time, you have heard the conviction this book carries, because I have said it from the platform more times than I can count: you did not sneak into the family of God. You were adopted into it. Chosen, named and seated at the table, with every right and responsibility of a son or daughter.

Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Galatians 4:7 (NKJV)

Inside are nine chapters built on the prayer Jesus taught His family to pray, walking through your position in the family, your rights as a family member, your obligations as someone who carries the Father’s name, and your finances in the family business of the Kingdom. Every chapter closes with reflection questions worth talking over and a prayer worth praying, and the back of the book carries a complete ten session small group study guide, so you can read it alone or take a whole table of people through it together.

You did not sneak into the family of God. You were adopted into it.

Where to start? If you want to try before you buy, chapter one is free and it will tell you quickly whether this book is for you. If you have already bought your copy, claim your bonuses. And if you lead a church or a small group, the church resources page has the discussion guide, the sermon series kit and the graphics pack waiting for you.

This page, Reflections, now comes to life too. On the fifteenth of each month a new reflection will land here, one idea at a time, walking the themes of the book: a scripture opened up, a story from the road, and a challenge at the end. The first one is already up.

To everyone who read drafts, prayed, endorsed, joined the launch team and put up with me talking about adoption at every dinner table in Toowoomba: thank you. Now comes the part that matters most. Somebody in your world still thinks they are on the outside of the Father’s house looking in. Put this book in their hands, because the last line of it is true: there is always room for one more.
